Bryngwyn Scoops Winning Prize at Young Chef Competition!

Congratulations to Emily Beth Jones (Year 10) who was recently announced the Winner and to Evan Job who was the runner-up in this year's Llanelli heat of the Rotary Club Young Chef competition.  A total of 10 competitors from local schools took part , including 7 of our pupils.  The Young Chef is a four stage national competition which supports and encourages development of cookery skills amongst young people.

The brief was to prepare a 3-course meal for 2 people costing no more than £15 in a time limit of 2 hours.  The meals were then judged by the juding panel of Anna Brown (Chef Manager of Llanelly House and regular columnist in the Llanelli Star) and Stewart Williams (Castell Howell Development Chef). Points were awarded for such aspects as costing, planning, neatness of working area and hygiene, as well as range of skills used and the actual taste and presentation of each course.

The winning combination served up by Emily-Beth consisted of a starter of carrot soup, duck with sauteed potatoes , finished off with lemon drizzle cake, which obviously scored highly with the judges!

Emily-Beth now goes forward to the Regional Final to be held in Cowbridge on 27th February where we wish her every success.
