Bryngwyn Teams Celebrate Success in 'Youth Speaks' Competition

A very successful evening was had by both the Junior and Senior teams from Bryngwyn on Tuesday 29 January when they participated in the Llanelli Rotary Club Annual Youth Speaks Competition at Llanelli Town Hall.

The Competition is designed to encourage young people to be able to present their balanced thoughts and views in both a professional and articulate way and sets out to offer young people:-

  • The experience of speaking in a public environment
  • An incentive to interpret their ideas and present under a competitive arena
  • The opportunity of learning from their peer competitors
  • Acceptance of impartial and constructive assessment of their personal/their team's collective endeavours

The Junior Team members, Bronte Reynolds, Tim Thomas and Stephen Hughes gave a presentation to the audience and judging panel on the subject of  'Sports Role Models' with the Senior Team members, Zoe Bonnell, Lucy Havard and Ryan Davies presenting the subject of 'The growing gap between rich and poor'.

Altogether, Bryngwyn School walked away with the following Awards:-

Junior Team

Bronte Reynolds                  Best Chairperson
Stephen Hughes                 Best  Proposer of the Vote of Thanks

Senior Team

Zoe Bonnell                          Best Chairperson
Lucy Havard                          Best Speaker
Ryan Davies                         Best Proposer of the Vote of Thanks

The Senior Team also won the Team Trophy and will now go forward to the second round of the Competition which is to be held at the Gower Golf Club on 21 February.

This amounted to a total of six out of the eight  Awards presented on the night going to Bryngwyn School - a fantastic achievement!
Congratulations to both our teams.
