Former Bryngwyn Pupils Selected for Wales U17 & U19 Ladies Football Teams

A Llanelli sports student has been selected for the U17s Wales football squad.

Former Bryngwyn School pupil Leah Randell, currently studying Sports and Exercise Science at Coleg Sir Gâr’s Graig Campus, is a dedicated student and sportswoman, having played football since the age of seven when she joined Dafen Welfare AFC.

Catherine Roberts, Sports Lecturer at the College said: “Leah, who’s a member of our Female Football Academy has been on the Welsh U17s reserve list for two years and although she was called upon to play in a friendly against Wales U19s last year, her persistence, hard work and commitment over the last year has proved worthwhile and she is currently training with the Welsh U17s Squad.”

Stacey Webber, a keen female footballer has received her first Wales U19s Football Cap playing against Sweden and England. Stacey, an A Level student and Sports Academy member at Coleg Sir Gâr’s Graig Campus had her first call-up in a friendly tournament against Sweden’s U19s and England’s U20s.

The 17 year-old currently plays for the College Sports Academy Female Football Team and Newcastle Emlyn Ladies Team, who play in the Welsh Premier League.  The former Bryngwyn pupil started her football career at Dafen Welfare AFC until January this year where she was also playing for West Wales Girls Performance Centre and Clubs for Young People Wales.

“Stacey has received five Welsh U17 Caps,” says Coleg Sir Gâr lecturer Catherine Roberts.  “Her first Cap was last year playing against Moldova in the UEFA Championships so she’s already got great footballing experience and we wish her well for the coming season.”
