Joe Holt Wins Carmarthenshire Young Sportsman of the Year Award!

Bryngwyn's star cyclist, Joe Holt, has been awarded the prestigious title of Carmarthenshire Young Sportsman of the Year 2013 at a ceremony held at the Stradey Park Hotel on 29th January.

The Award was presented for Joe's dominant performances on both the National and International road and track cycling scene and the achievement has crowned off an impressive year for Joe, where he has progressed through the ranks of British Cycling's Olympic Talent Team and on to the organisation's Olympic Development Programme for 2014.

The Award Ceremony was organised by Active Carmarthenshire and Carmarthenshire Local Sports Council and was a showcase for the overall sporting talent within the county.  The main award of the night, the Sports Personality of the Year, was awarded to the Scarlets and British Lions centre, Jonathan Davies and in his summing up, Ian Howell, Chairman of the Carmarthenshire Local Sports Council, praised the standard of all those nominated for the night's awards.  He added that the standard of nominees is increasing and that their achievements are being recognised not only locally but nationally and internationally, a fact that is making it much harder to even short-list the candidates.  Our warmest congratulations go to Joe - a fantastic achievement!
