Bryngwyn Pupils Represent Carmarthenshire at the Gwent Festival of Music

Gareth Kirby, Carmarthenshire Music Service Coordinator, commended Lewys Herbert Yr 9, Oliver Davies Yr 10 & Amy Hanney Yr 8, who represented Brygnwyn and the County on Saturday, 28th January 2012, at the Gwent Festival of Music.

Mr Kirby stated that our County Intermediate Brass Band competed for the first time in the Debutante Section of the festival and were awarded a Gold certificate for their performance. The band was conducted by Mr Geraint Thomas and played some challenging pieces including the "James Bond Theme" by Monty Norman. All pupils performed professionally and confidently, and were fine ambassadors for their schools and the County Education Department. I would like to thank you, as a school, for your continued support which allows us to give these performing opportunities to the pupils of Carmarthenshire. Also I would like to take this opportunity to thank the peripatetic staff from the music service that helped to prepare the pupils for the festival and supervised on the day: Mr Robert Owen, Mr Philip Morris, Mr Gethyn Sanders and Miss Stephanie Rees. I hope that this result acts as an incentive for our Senior Brass group that will be taking part in the National Brass Band Championships in Manchester in April!
